In baseball, a catcher is the only defensive player on the field allowed to be “in foul territory” when a pitch is thrown - that’s baseball lingo for “out of bounds.” Because of their position, the catcher has the best view of the field, the game and the rest of the players. They are expected to take in and process the details of every square inch of playing surface both before and while a play unfolds. Additionally, the catcher is the only player on the field - apart from the pitcher - who is an active participant in every play; either calling the shots or taking them.
Catchers are data experts, the team “thinker” - consuming vast amounts of input and performing instantaneous analysis to update their team’s stance as situations unfold. They are not coaches, nor umpires - but often take on an unofficial leadership mantle on and off the field. There's a reason why some 40% of on-field managers at the Major League level are former catchers. These guys get it.
Our founder is a life-long catcher turned umpire, coach and baseball-dad. He's spent decades of his free-time "in foul territory." Professionally, he's served at the pleasure of The President, worked alongside Cabinet Secretaries, supported NGOs and global organizations such as the WEF and ICC partnering with multinational corporations to improve trade facilitation in the farthest reaches of the earth, and domestically has worked in small-businesses and multi-billion dollar enterprises.
iFT's staff and consultants have worked in and around the toughest no-fail missions - from war zones to boardrooms. We are a team of niche experts, unified in our passion for advancing the interests of national and homeland security. Much like a baseball team, we have specialized skills and role-specific expertise, but as a TEAM we have become something greater than the sum of its parts.
That same passion for nurturing relationships, performing complex analysis, and general problem solving is what now guides iFT's winning philosophy.
